The Protest EP
Wrath
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless ruthless. Romans 1:28-31 (ESV)
For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? Romans 8:22-24 (ESV)
Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming. Colossians 3:5-6 (ESV)
One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deed; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Luke 23:39-42 (ESV)
evil and malice,
envy, murder, strife,
lust, impure thoughts,
lovers of sin
the wrath and fury of His Holy Name
the sins of man, the guilt must be paid
the end is so close, the earth cries in pain
hold me in your grace please remember me
foolish and faithless
heartless and wickedness
idols and witchcraft
haters of God
the wrath and fury of His Holy Name
the sins of man, the guilt must be paid
the end is so close, the earth cries in pain
hold me in your grace please remember me
yea it’s a sign of the times
the wrath and fury of His Holy Name
the sins of man, the guilt must be paid
the end is so close, the earth cries in pain
Jesus hold me in your grace please remember me
One of the primary attributes of God that is seldom discussed today is His wrath. The wrath of God is demonstrated from cover to cover in the Bible. God is just and holy in righteousness. Meaning He will punish the wicked, Proverbs 11:21 states, “Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.” (ESV) A just and holy God must display wrath and punishment.
The verses of this song are mostly taken straight from Romans chapter one, illustrating the conditions of man. While the choruses are an acknowledgement of the wrath of God and His just punishment being laid upon His creation. To close each chorus we have a cry for grace that we do not deserve. Much like the thief on the cross who was indeed receiving his just reward for his actions in this life. A plea for mercy and grace from our Lord and savior is all we have to give.
Soli Deo Gloria!

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6 (ESV)
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)
This weakness kills me
One more time I fall away
Another nail that I gladly drive in your holy hands
How many times will I fall?
How can you still call me your son?
I find it easy to love another one
So easy to push you out
Will you still be there?
Is it not too late?
To recreate
To the end of the age you’ll never let me go
What you started in me you’re gonna see it through
So help me God
I know I don’t deserve it
Another time I play the part with my Judas kiss
I’ve denied your name in shame
Now I’m down on my knees
I’m begging you for another chance
Please let your fire burn inside once more
And use me like never before
Is it not too late?
To recreate
To the end of the age you’ll never let me go
What you started in me you’re gonna see it through
And I know I’m not there yet
But your word will guide my steps
As your grace rains down on me
It grows new everyday
Its new everyday
Your promise holds true
I’ve seen your grace renew
All the times I was
Lost and scared and down and out
You never let me go
To the end of the age you’ll never let me go
What you started in me you’re gonna see it through
A personal testimony that deals with the recognition of our rebellion against God. An ultimately fruitless life, clinging to things that do not satisfy. Through each verse we have a clearer picture of who we are in the eyes of the Lord.
Firstly a clear acknowledgement of our sinfulness constantly falling away from what we know to be true, questioning how God could still love us while we have loved numerous things so easily before Him.
In verse two we have more of a prayer, a cry for help and a confession. Even though I still fail you I am here begging for forgiveness, another opportunity to be obedient to your commands.
Finishing with the bridge and final verse, we have come full circle in our realization that our Lord Jesus Christ’s promises do hold true, He will always pull us through. His grace renews every day, His faithfulness is relentless. He is with us to the end of the age. All those that are given to Him by the Father, He will not cast out. Each chorus describes this, no matter we do He will not let us go, the good work started within us will be seen through to the end.

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. Matthew 7:15-20 (ESV)
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 (ESV)
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. 2 Peter 2:1-3 (ESV)
